WWE had teased a physical confrontation between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair during the Crown Jewel event earlier this year but the angle never took place.
A lot of people thought that the company might have just nixed physical action from both the legends due to their age but during a recent interview, Ric Flair revealed that he was actually cleared to compete at the show.
The two time Hall Of Famer recently had an interview with WrestlingInc where he talked about the show and revealed that it was Vince McMahon who nixed the idea:
“I got cleared medically to do something in Saudi and then Vince nixed it. If I would have fed Roman in that huge comeback he made, or tapped Hogan, that would have been the coup de gras. You just wanna give them everything they paid for and sometimes if you’re not physically involved, you feel like you’re not giving everything you had if you’re not physical.”
When asked if being physically cleared means that he can wrestle a full match, Flair explained that in theory, he can do so but it will take him a long time to get in shape for it:
“Yes… well, no, not wrestle a match. I could get knocked down. Could I wrestle a match? Yes… but I couldn’t because it would take me so long to get in that kind of shape. But I could be involved in a spot or take a bump,”
