Ric Flair on why he finished his in-ring career with TNA

Ric Flair had a long illustrious career in professional wrestling, spanning decades. He retired from competing in WWE back in 2008. However, he had a stint in TNA after that and wrestled his final match in the company in 2011. It appears that if circumstances had been different, he might not have ended his career in TNA.

Ric Flair spoke to Wrestling Inc, where he provided an explanation as to his condition prior to signing with TNA. He was forced to return to wrestling as he needed the money.

“I needed the money. Very simple. I was paying alimony to three women at one time and lawyers. I got bombed as everyone hit me and then the IRS.”

“It’s very simple – like Jim [Ross] said, I needed the money. I would have never have gone there. Even though I got to hang around Kurt [Angle] and Sting, it was a disaster.”

Flair is back in WWE but not as an active competitor. The 71-year-old has done more than enough during his time in the business. Whenever fans think of his career, it is likely they think more about his runs other than TNA.
