Ricky Starks says he would not have gone to AEW if there was no pandemic

Ricky Starks made his AEW debut earlier in the year. Since then, he has impressed fans and wrestlers alike with his impressive mic skills and in-ring ability. He is currently part of Team Taz and is feuding against The Nightmare Family. It seems had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic, fans would never have gotten to see Starks in AEW.

The former NWA star was signed by AEW following his first match against Cody Rhodes. Tony Khan instantly realized what role he could play in the company. He spoke to Chris Van Vliet, where he admitted that he most likely would not have left NWA if there was not a pandemic.

“Uh, probably, probably. I think so. But that’s a hard one because I had a year plan already scoped out for myself and in that year plan, it wasn’t in the writing for me to be there for as long as I could’ve been right now. In my head, I was gonna be there for maybe like eight months, get what I could out of it and then assess my career from there and then move on. But obviously that got shortened out a bit just through the pandemic and things like that and now we’re here.”

Starks is currently getting a lot of spotlight in the company and is often mentioned by Tony Khan when talking about the future stars of AEW.
