Roman Reigns is set to defend the WWE Universal Title at Fastlane against Daniel Bryan after Bryan beat Jey Uso in a cage match on Smackdown last week, and rumors have spread about Bryan potentially being added to Roman vs. Edge at WrestleMania 37. According to Dave Meltzer, Reigns will retain and head into WrestleMania as champion. Vince McMahon was ‘furious’ with a Roman Reigns match.
Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “The key matches at WrestleMania appear to be a lock, with Roman Reigns vs. Edge for the Universal title, Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE title, Randy Orton vs. The Fiend in some kind of a gimmick match, Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon, Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair for the SmackDown women’s title all either announced or a clear direction.”
Reigns vs. Bryan is the clear headliner of Fastlane, as Bobby Lashley still does not have an opponent for his WWE title just a week out from the PPV.
Reigns and Bryan last had a one on one match at WWE Fastlane 2016 ironically enough. They teased a feud in 2019 with the Reigns ‘attacker’ angle, but it ended up being Erick Rowan. Roman Reigns’ expensive store receipt just leaked.
