WWE Smackdown Superstar Roman Reigns is certainly one of the top competitors in the company right now and has been on a solid run as the reigning and defending WWE Universal Champion, but he is losing his top spot to two WWE Smackdown women.
The Tribal Chief Has been the Champion for well over 503 days, breaking Brock Lesnar’s record for the longest-reigning WWE Universal Champion in history as well. Roman Reigns has defended his title against the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, ‘The Demon’ Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Rey Mysterio and so many more. He has stood tall over them all one way or the other.
WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg returned on last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown and immediately set his sights on The Tribal Chief’s WWE Universal Championship. They will face off against each other at the WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event in Saudi Arabia on February 19th.
Dave Meltzer discussed the upcoming Goldberg vs Roman Reigns match on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer revealed that WWE has wanted Reigns to defeat Goldberg for several years now at this point.
“Goldberg and Roman. Makes sense, they’ve been wanting to do that match. I don’t see Goldberg winning… Like, you could do, like have Brock Lesnar get his retribution, cost Goldberg the championship.
Then Goldberg could defend it. But I don’t see that happening. I think that Reigns just beats Goldberg because they’ve been wanting to have Reigns beat Goldberg for a couple of years now.”
The two were supposed to face off against each other at WrestleMania 36 in 2020 but Roman Reigns had to pull out of the match due to the virus pandemic. We will have to see whether Goldberg can dethrone the Tribal Chief or not.
