Rumor: Goldust leaving WWE for All Elite Wrestling

Goldust

All Elite Wrestling is shaping up to be a solid promotion, as it already has a great roster of talented wrestlers. However, they could always use more talent. The company is already going after WWE superstars. It seems that Goldust might be joining his brother Cody Rhodes in All Elite Wrestling.

While Goldust is currently injured, he is definitely keeping tabs on All Elite Wrestling, especially what Cody is doing. He recently praised Cody after AEW was announced.

On Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast, Joe Peisich said that there might be a chance of Goldust jumping ship to AEW early so that he could help his brother. Here is what he said:

“They are talking to Jim Ross, they are also talking to Mike Tenay and I heard a rumor, I could not get this confirmed but I heard a rumor and it’s interesting to see because this organization the [Vice] President or whatever you wanna call it what happens to Goldust? I have heard that Goldust may get a release by the WWE and come to All Elite Wrestling. So that’s big news there.”

AEW is currently going all out for WWE superstars whose contracts will expire this year. Even the likes of AJ Styles could join the company. Anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling, so Goldust joining AEW is definitely not unthinkable. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Yep. One of the biggest reasons people aren’t over is because you are forcing people who are not actors to act and deliver lines that they would never say in real life. I never believe a word that Strowman says because when I look at him, that’s not what I expect him to say. I’m not saying I expect him to sound like an idiot, but his delivery is the same as Corbin or Gable or Lasley. You could have handed those lines to virtually anyone on the roster and it would have come out the same. You’d never think to yourself “gee, sounds like he’s got a different wrestler’s script.” Meanwhile, if you heard someone read a promo from the Rock or Austin or Hogan, even if you took out the tag lines, you’d know whose lines those belonged to.

  • The Random Reader

Exactly, and they have to do away with micro management and heavy handed scripts that i felt something felt off and lifeless, instead as Dave Batista said to give them bullet points to and let the roster work together with writers or bookers in order to make the company hot again

  • Nicholas Giambattista

Yep and WWE is not going to be so fast to release there guys under contract at this time.

  • CC

I do believe that the likes of Gallows and Anderson may consider leaving once their contracts end, but not specifically to go to AEW. I think a lot of talent like them would wait until there was more announced such as TV deals etc.
Plus, saying WWE talent want to leave to go to AEW is not as easy as that sounds. With contracts WWE has, we saw last year what they did to Pac when he wanted out.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I don’t believe anything they are saying about WWE talent leaving for a company that don’t even have a direction yet. I think these people on the dirt sheet are really getting ahead of themselves.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I think AJ Styles leaving is a joke. The dirt sheet is really getting full of themselves. The guy was loyal to TNA almost to the very end. But I am sure AJ Styles is walking around WWE thinking I should have came to WWE sooner.

  • Rinn13

Why wouldn’t he want to go work for his brother’s company, and be part of building up a new promotion, instead of just hanging around WWE, barely being used?

  • MT McGee

Agreed. While I don’t need to see Goldust wrestling any more, there are many wrestlers on the roster who deserve better than to be fodder for Charlotte or Reigns, when he was around. Cesaro, for example, while a tag champ, deserves better than to be thrown into food every time there’s a segment with a table full of food. Sonya Deville, who might not be the best wrestler, is a lot more over than people might think and deserve more than being a job gal. We all know that Ziggler deserves better than what he’s getting. I could name at least twenty people on the main roster who should seriously be considering leaving WWE when their contract is up to go work for NJ or AEW.

  • Darrin Tyler

Dustin is done. If he goes at all, don’t expect him to wrestler.

  • CC

So are we supposed to believe that we are seeing stories that WWE are throwing out ridiculously high offers to talent like The Bucks, Cody and Kenny because they did not want them going to AEW, and are supposedly pushing people like Finn Balor to stop him jumping ship when his contract ends, but are going to release Goldust so he can join them?
The fact that he even says it is a rumour and he cannot confirm it kinda tells you all you need to know about this story.

  • The Random Reader

I hope WWE realize what their own problem is, there are other underrated and almost unused wrestlers in their rosters, and because of this look what happens, some of them decided to leave for better opportunites

  • Dirt McGirt

    Black Reign is coming back!

  • But is it REALLY big news? Sure, he’s entertaining but he is also at the end of his career.
