There have been rumors spreading that Charlotte was originally set to win the WWE Divas championship in her debut. The story goes that John Cena prevented it from happening. Cena is currently in a relationship with the Divas title holder, Nikki Bella.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline said that while he doesn’t know if those rumors are true, he knows that part of Nikki’s lengthy reign has been due to her relationship with WWE’s poster boy. Meltzer also said Cena has been vocal in the past of keeping the title on Nikki, but he doesn’t know if he’s done it in recent weeks.
In an update, Nikki Bella has since posted the following on Twitter:
