Sami Zayn is the WWE Intercontinental Champion, but he was not present during this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown. He was absent from last week’s episode too, citing oral surgery.
According to various reports, Sami Zayn’s absence for this week’s Smackdown was not due to oral surgery. In fact, it was said that he is very difficult to work in backstage in WWE. He is said to stir up other members of the locker room and usually is the one to cause trouble.
It is not known whether he has any heat on him currently. We will have to see when he makes his return to WWE television. It seems the company is not able to come up with something for the Intercontinental Champion. With Money In The Bank around the corner, it is likely we will see Sami Zayn defend in title in a match at the event.
