Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a storied rivalry that has continued throughout various promotions including ROH and WWE. Kevin Owens recently took to Twitter and commented on a past match between the two when he was known as Kevin Steen and Sami Zayn was El Generico.
Oh man! Generico hated that match. Not only did I beat the hell out of him, I also kept throwing zingers out and making the crowd laugh. He later said it felt like he was being attacked by an evil stand-up comedian. Oddly enough, I remember loving every second of the match!
In other news related to Sami Zayn, his current persona in WWE sees him as a conspiracy theorist who thinks WWE is out to get him every step of the way. He also dresses for the part as he has a lot of unkempt hair and is not groomed at all.
Now from the looks of it, Sami Zayn has a couple of very interesting things he took inspiration for in order to create his current look in the company. Sami Zayn spoke to Ryan Satin from FOX Sports, where he discussed his current gimmick.
Zayn mentioned that one of his biggest inspirations for his current look include Bill Murray from the movie Kingpin. He then added that Bret Hart was also a huge inspiration for him while thinking about his look.
“I had an inspiration early on from, I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the movie, Kingpin. Bill Murray’s character in Kingpin and the big game when his hair starts going little by little. That was a bit of an inspiration for me. I wanted to have that look. Or Bret Hart from a more practical point of view, where he’d come out looking one way, but then as the match progressed he looked a different way.”
