Sami Zayn reacts to being stripped of the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Having won the WWE Intercontinental Championship at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Sami Zayn has been absent from WWE television and at the same time has been unable to defend his newly won title, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

As a result of which, WWE decided to strip Zayn of the title, ending his reign at 65 days. And, while it does seem like the only logical option, fans have been quite critical regarding Zayn being forced to vacate his first singles title on the main roster.

In response to WWE’s decision, Sami Zayn has finally taken to Twitter and has broken his silence after being stripped of the Intercontinental Title.

As you would expect, Zayn disagreed with WWE’s decision and regardless of anything, still considers himself as the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion. The former NXT Champion sent out the following tweet:

Since winning the title earlier in the year, Zayn marked his first defense of the IC Title by retaining over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 36. However, WWE has now confirmed that tournament will be hosted to crown a new champion.
