Samoa Joe Injury Update; Mania return seems unlikely

It looks like Samoa Joe’s foot injury is a bit more serious than originally thought.

On January 8th, Joe took on Rhyno in a quick squash match, quickly choking out the war machine. However, it was reported that Joe suffered a “minor injury” to his foot that night. Sadly, it seems it’s not so minor.

While Joe was already taken out of the Rumble earlier this week, it was assumed that Joe would still have a big storyline to work with heading towards Mania. However, it seems like he could be gone through at least mid-March. Joe was scheduled to face John Cena at Madison Square Garden on March 16th, but as of January 18th, the Destroyer has been pulled from that event.

It’s possible that he’ll still be involved in some way at Wrestlemania, but it’s unlikely seeing that he’s been taken off of a show so close to the event.

Last week, WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann stated that the WWE believes Joe is suffering from a plantar fascia rupture. This injury can take up to 12 weeks to fully heal, depending on how severe the tear is.
