Samoa Joe injury update

WWE, specifically Kurt Angle, reported earlier today via Twitter that Samoa Joe had been injured on last night’s Raw. Recently, the Samoan Submission Machine was voted by the WWE Universe to be tag team partners with Bayley in the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge, airing on Facebook Watch on January 16th. Joe would be replaced by Elias.

Last night, Joe made an emphatic statement, not only declaring his intent to enter the Royal Rumble, but that he’ll be targeting John Cena. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as WWE.com reported.

According to them, Joe “felt a pop in his right foot during his match with Rhyno.” Dr. Chris Amann was quoted saying,

“We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a think tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and a platelet rich plasma injections.”

The injury is legit, and the recovery time can range from 2 -12 weeks if the MRI confirms Dr. Amann’s diagnosis.
