CM Punk captured his first title in AEW. It marked his first title reign in nine long years as He defeated “Hangman” Adam Page to win the AEW World Championship in the main event of the recently-concluded Double or Nothing pay-per-view. ‘The Best in the World’ had reversed a Buckshot Lariat into a GTS for the win.
Alberto Del Rio sends congratulatory message to CM Punk
Alberto Del Rio took to Twitter and dropped a picture of Punk after his triumph. He congratulated the newly crowned AEW World Champion on his win with a simple message:

Alberto had cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to win the WWE Championship from Punk at SummerSlam 2011. Punk eventually beat him for the title as well. Despite all the controversy, Del Rio certainly has a lot of respect for Punk, who became emotional following the title victory.
After the show was over, Punk thanked the crowd for coming out and supporting the company. The newly-crowned AEW World Champion was then joined by ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR before he began his victory speech inside the ring. Punk proceeded to thank the whole AEW locker room, saying if it wasn’t for them he wouldn’t been in the company in the first place. He also thanked the fans for making him and FTR the best performers in the world.
‘The Second City Saint’ then gave credits to his wife, the former WWE star AJ Lee. Punk said his wife had always been supportive of him. The crowd gave a huge ovation to the performers after Double or Nothing wrapped up.
