Secret Service agents reportedly violated the privacy of a Massachusetts hair salon while preparing for a fundraiser for Kamala Harris on July 27. The Four One Three Salon in Pittsfield was entered by agents without permission, and they tampered with the owner’s security cameras while securing the area for Harris’s event at the nearby Colonial Theatre.
Alicia Powers, the salon’s owner, had already agreed to close her business for the day to support the event’s security needs. However, she felt violated when agents entered the locked salon, used her bathroom, and tampered with her security cameras. Security footage showed an agent taping over a Ring camera at the salon’s entrance. The agents triggered the security alarm and used the facilities for nearly two hours before leaving the salon unsecured.
Powers discovered the intrusion when she returned to her phone and saw the footage. The salon’s front door was left unlocked, and Powers was frustrated that the agents did not ask for permission and failed to secure the building properly. She mentioned that emergency medical personnel and law enforcement were among those who used the bathroom without authorization.
The building’s landlord, Brian Smith, confirmed that neither he nor his father had given permission for the Secret Service to enter. Powers tried to address the situation with local law enforcement and the Secret Service but initially faced indifference. The Secret Service only acknowledged the incident and issued an apology after Business Insider reached out for comment.
