Seth Rollins talks WWE continuing to build stars after Paul Heyman firing; Ric Flair interested in managing Randy Orton

WWE was focused on establishing new stars when Paul Heyman was the Executive Director of RAW. Following his firing, there was some speculation that WWE would no longer be as interested in establishing stars.

Seth Rollins spoke to Talk Sport, where the topic of building new stars came up. Rollins claimed that is what WWE is still planning. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a good few top Stars are unable to work. So the company is using the time to build new stars.

“Well, first of all, I think the emphasis is still on building stars for the future. Particularly during this time when there’s a lot of performers who are either opting out for their own safety or they are people that are getting sick here and there, so we’re missing a lot of our top-tier talent due to various circumstances. But the emphasis is still certainly on building future stars and I don’t want Paul Heyman’s departure to be a reason why anybody thinks that that’s not the case, because it definitely is the case.”

The COVID-19 situation has made it difficult for many top-level Superstars to come to WWE. WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair is unfazed by it. He spoke to TV Insider, where he revealed that he is trying to get WWE to allow him to manage Randy Orton for his upcoming feud with Drew McIntyre:

“The thing with Orton is it’s a real life story. His dad and I have been friends since the ‘70s. We probably started around the same time. I watched Randy grow up. I was there the day he came up with Dave [Bautista] in Evolution. I don’t know if I would have that same impact on a lot of people. I certainly would love the opportunity, but I think it would have to be one of those scenarios. I’m trying to get me to manage Randy against [Drew] McIntyre [at SummerSlam]. I don’t know. I haven’t heard back, but it’s not because I’m not trying.”

Flair recently made an appearance with Orton during Orton’s match against Big Show on RAW. We will have to see if WWE allows Flair to manage him.
