Seth Rollins tops PWI 500 List

Seth Rollins

This year’s edition of Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Top 500 Wrestlers has been released and not very surprisingly, the current Universal Champion Seth Rollins has topped this list.

The list considers things such as a wrestlers’ win-loss record, technical ability, success against the highest grade of competition and activity in the span of a year from July 31st to June 30th.

Over this period in the last year, Rollins had been part of several high profile storylines including the one involving his former Shield brother Dean Ambrose’s heel turn and the reformation of the Shield before Ambrose’s eventual departure from the company.

He also won numerous championships during this time, including his WrestleMania win over Brock Lesnar which won him his first Universal title.

Other stars who are close to the Architect in the ranking include the likes of Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles and Kenny Omega. Below are the top ten wrestlers from the PWI 500 list:

  1. Seth Rollins
  2. Daniel Bryan
  3. AJ Styles
  4. Kofi Kingston
  5. Okada
  6. Johnny Gargano
  7. Roman Reigns
  8. Kenny Omega
  9. Tanahashi
  10. Will Ospreay

I haven’t read PWI on years but I remember when RVD and Dean Malenko were #1, yet not World Champion

To be honest this list is always the same, nothing to do with who is actually the best wrestler, just who has been booked in the most matches and wins the most. Yes talent is part of it, but the booking is the main driving factor.
What’s the betting that Becky Lynch tops this years womens list?
