Shane McMahon Breaks Silence After WWE Firing

Vince Russo stated on his ChannelAttitude.com podcast that he messaged Shane McMahon this past week after his dismissal from WWE by his father Vince McMahon, and he revealed what Shane told him in response. Wrestling-Edge transcribed his remark.

“I wrote Shane a little pick me upper, trying to remind him of the man that he is. He wrote back to me, and I could tell something did happen. Obviously we didn’t get in detail or anything like that, but he said something to the affect of, ‘Wow, I really needed this today.'”

Big E is another big WWE name who is no longer in Vince McMahon’s good graces. Big E had been on the receiving end of a huge push as a singles star, ever since he was separated from the New Day during the 2020 edition of the WWE Draft. He also made a name for himself as part of the New Day stable as well. Big E was first booked well as the Intercontinental Champion as fans simply had a lot of hope for his future as a main even level star.

Big E would then go on to win the WWE Championship after cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Bobby Lashley back in September last year on an episode of Monday Night RAW. He went on to have a somewhat disappointing run as the WWE Champion, defeating the likes of Drew McIntyre before he ended up losing it eventually. Roman Reigns was unable to compete at WWE Day 1 after testing positive for COVID-19, which led to Brock Lesnar winning the WWE Championship after defeating Big E and others at the pay-per-view.

Since then, Big E was moved to Friday Night Smackdown and his run as a singles competitor seemingly has come to an end. As reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer, Big E’s return to the blue brand signalled the end of his singles career.

“Big E being moved to SmackDown permanently and put back with the New Day as a tag team looks to have ended his push as a singles champion level guy.

The plan on SmackDown was to put him in with the New Day and he wasn’t brought over specifically to be an opponent for Reigns, although obviously that could still happen simply due to the fact Reigns constantly will need new opponents over the next year and they have depth issues when it comes to challengers and he at least was on top for much of 2021 so has some singles main event credibility.”
