Shane Strickland has been one of the highlights of many promotions in the past few years. Known as Killshot in Lucha Underground, Strickland has been a part of that roster since season one. He’s also worked with Major League Wrestling, DEFY, and Evolve, and has captured gold in all four companies.
Matt Riddle even dropped the Evolve Championship to Strickland when he left the promotion last summer before appearing at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. Strickland and Riddle had a storied rivalry in the indies, spanning several promotions, so he seems like a great opponent for the King of Bros, who now has his sights set on some NXT gold.
At last night’s DEFY Wrestling event, Strickland told the attending fans that it was his last night in the promotion. He thanked everyone for their support over the years and claimed he was onto bigger and better things.

Shane Strickland announced he had just wrestled his last match for DEFY. The locker room emptied out to thank him for building DEFY. He asked everyone to sing along to his theme sans music. (Normal warning about my hand tremors) pic.twitter.com/a4EO1xPRQD

WWE has reportedly been high on Strickland for some time now, and have been looking to bring him into NXT. Back in January, he revealed that he was a free agent, meaning he had finished up with Lucha Underground. It’s unknown what his next move is, but I wouldn’t be too shocked if the King of Swerve showed up on the Yellow Brand soon.
