Iconic singer Beyonce reached a massive milestone at the 65th edition of the Grammy Awards on February 5. She shattered the record for the most career Grammy award wins in the history of the establishment. The $500 million worth musician won her 32nd Grammy award to secure her legacy in arguably the biggest recognition platform for musical artists.
Moreover, she is now tied with her billionaire husband Jay-Z for the most nominations in Grammy history. Meanwhile, Jay-Z had an awkward reaction when the host of the show Trevor Noah presented the award to Beyonce. While addressing the incident, Shaquille O’Neal did not seem to be too pleased by Jay-Z’s peculiar reaction.
Shaquille O’Neal recently joined co-hosts Nischelle Turner and ‘The King of NBA Twitter’ Josiah Johnson during the recent edition of The Big Podcast. During the show, Nischelle revealed that Beyonce was running late and could not go on the stage to collect her award. So, The Dream and Nile Rodgers went on the stage to take the award on her behalf.
Moreover, Turner shared that the host Trevor Noah presented her with the award later on, when she finally made it to the Grammy’s. However, something that Noah said prompted an awkward reaction from her husband Jay-Z.
In the recent iteration of The Big Podcast, Nischelle Turner stated:
“Trevor Noah came up and presented her award when she finally got to the show. And let me tell you, he said, ‘Here, this goes to Beyonce Knowles.’ Jay-Z turned around and looked at that man like, “What did you say? What is her name?’”
In response, Shaquille O’Neal said, “That’s her name.” Turner responded, “No! Her name is Beyonce Knowles Carter.” However, Shaq insisted, “No, it’s not, no, Beyonce Knowles. Stop it.” Meanwhile, the ET correspondent pointed out that the song ‘Partition’ by Beyonce starts with a verse, “Heyy Ms. Carter!“
Shaquille O’Neal argued that she did the song out of respect for Jay-Z and suggested Turner drop the matter. The four-time NBA champ added:
“Her name is Beyonce Knowles. Cut it out. Don’t be insensitive.” However, Turner was in no mood to give up on the argument. The 48-year-old stated, “No, her name is Beyonce Knowles Carter. She got three children with that man. They’ve been through everything, fights and elevators, everything. She’s Carter.”
Shaquille O’Neal fuelled this Knowles-Carter discussion with Nischelle Turner by shooting a question. The 15-time All-Star said:
“So when my good friend Ben Affleck marries Jennifer Lopez, you expect them to say, Jennifer Affleck?” Meanwhile, an animated Turner stressed that Jennifer Lopez does go by the name ‘Affleck’.
The spirited argument from Turner prompted Shaquille to share a valuable piece of advice for the husbands of superstar celebrities. Shaquille O’Neal said:
“All you sensitive husbands, who has married these superstars, leave them people alone and let them live their lives. They had names before you boo boo.”
