At the Royal Rumble, the WWE Universe saw a special moment take place between Brock Lesnar and Shelton Benjamin. The fellow University of Minnesota alumni embraced in the middle of the ring, but the reunion was short-lived. Lesnar tossed Benjamin out when he turned his back on the Beast.
Benjamin recently spoke about his friendship with the WWE Champion on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia. The former Intercontinental Champion said that they’re still close friends, even though their career paths have split them up a bit.
When I met Brock, I instantly liked the guy. He was a big, fun loving dude. He’s the guy that if he likes you, he will give you the shirt off his back. If he doesn’t like you, well, you know.
We’re pretty good friends. I feel like our career paths have split us a bit. He’s doing his thing, and he’s doing very well at it, and I need to focus on me. I need to do me.
When asked about the comparisons some fans make between the two, Benjamin felt like it can do both men a disservice.
I don’t compare myself to Brock. First of all, Brock is a different animal. You don’t compare a lion to a jaguar. We’re just different animals in that aspect. Honestly, I’d be limiting myself if I compared myself to Brock.
