Shinsuke Nakamura wins Intercontinental Title

The kickoff show for WWE Extreme Rules featured a championship match, as Finn Balor defended his Intercontinental Title against Shinsuke Nakamura. This match was a last-minute addition to the card as it was expected that no other matches would be added to the card.

Nakamura had been dominant over Finn Balor on this week’s Smackdown Live and that did not change at WWE Extreme Rules.

After an intense match, Shinsuke dismantled Finn Balor and came out on top. So he is now the new Intercontinental Champion.

Demon Balor vs Clown Wyatt. I was close.

    That would be perfect.

I’m actually okay with it being on the pre-show.
I agree that Balor’s reign was uneventful, but putting this on the pre-show, and then actually pulling the trigger on the title change? Makes the pre-show more worth watching, I think.

I know so many people who just skip the pre-show, “because nothing important ever happens”. They should make the pre-show more unpredictable like this.

If that’s the case, turn K.O. into the Clubs nemisis.

I think the Demon should only show occasionally to have any impact, but what I do think though is it is time to turn him heel and reunite him with The Club. I really think that The Club could benefit from taking on a more nWo style characteristic with those four, and not give a damn about brand splits and all that crap (not that WWE seems to care about that either).
Then some way down the line Balor and Styles feud over leadership etc

He needs to be kept as Demon. Otherwise, his gimmick is useless.

I am happy that he has won the title, but sadly once again the IC title is relegated to the pre-show and much like when Shinsuke and Rusev both held the US title, Balor has been seriously underutilised in his role as IC champion, so when he lost it barely anyone cared.
