Ring of Honor announced on Wednesday that Jay Briscoe and War Machine will wrestle Jay Lethal and The Addiction at the June 3rd event in Collinsville, IL. ROH issued the following:
We are officially on the ROAD TO BEST IN THE WORLD! Everything from now until June 24th leads straight to our next pay-per-view event headlined by the biggest rematch in ROH history: JAY LETHAL VS. JAY BRISCOE. The ROAD TO BEST IN THE WORLD begins with THREE huge nights of ROH action in Collinsville, Indianapolis, and Columbus. All your favorite ROH stars will be there…but you never know who else might show up along the way!
An incredible 6 man tag team main event has just been signed for June 3rd in Collinsville, IL!
CHALLENGERS vs CHAMPIONS 6-MAN TAG TEAM SHOWDOWN
JAY BRISCOE & WAR MACHINE VS. JAY LETHAL & THE ADDICTION
SIX current and former ROH champions will collide in Collinsville! There is a lot of personal and professional animosity boiling between these team so this match could become an all-out war. It’s definitely worth noting that all of the men on the champions side got there by defeating the athletes on the challengers side in rivalries that are far from settled!
At GLOBAL WARS, War Machine successfully retained their ROH World Tag Team Championships and declared that their title reign could finally begin now that they defeated the legendary team of Jay and Mark Briscoe. But no one could have anticipated what happened the very next night in Dearborn. Already rattled from his war against the Briscoes, Ray Rowe fell victim to Okada’s lethal Rainmaker in War Machine’s championship match against him and Gedo. Despite this, Hanson and Rowe still pulled out the victory! It was at that moment that The Addiction capitalized on Rowe’s injury and War Machine’s unwillingness to back down from a fight, securing an impromptu title opportunity and winning back the ROH World Tag Team Championship!
Just last Saturday at Terminal 5 in New York City, War Machine was granted a much deserved rematch against Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. Hanson and Rowe were as dominant as ever! But Daniels was one step ahead of them again, blatantly using a championship belt in front of Head Official Todd Sinclair to end the match on a disqualification. The Addiction kept their titles, but War Machine is FAR from satisfied!
In Collinsville, they’ll team up with a man who they consider their greatest rival but who they respect as an ROH icon: JAY BRISCOE! Although Briscoe has been extremely focused on tag team competition over the past year, he’s never let Jay Lethal and the ROH World Championship out of his sight. And now he FINALLY gets his long-awaited rematch at BEST IN THE WORLD! But before that, fans in Collinsville will get a taste of what’s to come in this Challengers vs. Champions match.
