Snoop Dogg Is Going At It With Ryan Reynolds

According to a report by talkSport, Hollywood star and co-owner of Wrexham AFC, Ryan Reynolds, has expressed an interest in expanding his portfolio by acquiring the Ottawa Senators, a National Hockey League team that is currently up for sale in Canada’s capital city. Reynolds was recently linked to a bid that is estimated to exceed $1 billion for the team. However, on May 1, rapper Snoop Dogg announced on Instagram that he was excited to be part of a bid by LA-based businessman Neko Sparks, who would become the first Black owner of an NHL team if successful. Snoop expressed his desire to “bring hockey to our community” in the post.

At present, neither Sparks nor Reynolds have publicly confirmed their interest in acquiring the Ottawa Senators. The team is currently ranked sixth in the NHL Atlantic Division. In 2018, Snoop collaborated with the North American National Hockey League to host a YouTube series about the history of the sport.

Meanwhile, Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney, who recently became co-owners of Wrexham AFC in early 2021, successfully led the Welsh football team to promotion to the English Football League after a 15-year absence. The team’s 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood on April 22 sparked wild celebrations, with fans running onto the pitch to join the players. Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Reynolds said he was left “speechless” by the scenes at the Racecourse Ground stadium.

He explained that this was why they chose to invest in Wrexham: “This happening, right now, is why. Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defenses in the entire league.”

Reynolds and McElhenney were recently awarded the Freedom of Wrexham for their contribution to the oldest football club in Wales and the third-oldest professional association football team in the world. The story of how the two actors became co-owners of Wrexham AFC was featured in a Disney+ docuseries titled Welcome to Wrexham in 2022.
