During the taping of the upcoming SmackDown episode on Saturday, the No.1 contender for the WWE championship was determined through a 5-way match between AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, Mustafa Ali and Rey Mysterio.
The Phenomenal One sealed the victory after pinning ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton after a springboard 450 splash to go onto face Daniel Bryan for the title at the pay-per-view.
This would mark Styles’ second straight shot at the title in a pay-per-view after his losing effort against Bryan at the TLC event.
