War Games was a match created by Dusty Rhodes and the first match took place during NWA’s “Great American Bash” tour in 1987. War Games became one of WCW’s signature matches and was the feature attraction of WCW’s annual Fall Brawl PPV from 1993-1998.
ROH Champion Cody Rhodes connected about the match returning and noted that he was informed about the news before it was announced:
I'm not mad. I was told. H worked for my Dad and then my Dad worked for him. They were friends. Care and effort will be placed into it.
