Stephanie McMahon on WWE Superstars needing to create their own brands

Last week, Vince McMahon made a decision that angered WWE Superstars, past and present, and fans around the world. McMahon sent out a letter to roster members, stating that they weren’t allowed to “engage with outside third parties.”

It was quite a poorly received statement and one that has seen the wresting industry lambast Vince and WWE since. Performers for IMPACT Wrestling, AEW, and more have gone onto social media or to promote their various Twitch, Cameo, or what have you.

It seems that even Vince’s own daughter may disagree with Vince’s decree. On The GaryVee Audio Experience, Stephanie said it was important, in this day and age, for WWE Superstars to create their own brand.

“I think the talent we have today has more of an opportunity than anybody ever did before because of social media. They recognize their own opportunity to promote their own brand and their own voice both in and outside of the ring. The more interaction they have with their fans, the more people will want to see you perform. (H/T to WrestlingInc for the transcription)”

With this, we’ve gotten some pretty mixed messages from the McMahon family.
