FightfulSelect.com is reporting, “We’ve been told and reported that multiple pitches have been made to Steve Austin since last year. WWE sources believe he’s been open minded to the possibility of wrestling another match for the right situation and right money, but the offers so far haven’t seemed like either of those. Sources familiar with the situation told us that Austin was pitched a match with Brock Lesnar last summer or fall, but the money associated was a non-starter. Later on, Austin was offered a significantly higher amount to possibly face Roman Reigns, and we’re just told he didn’t get back to WWE on it.
Of late, we’ve heard that a very in-shape Steve Austin was made additional pitches to get on the show, but not for necessarily marquee matches. LA Knight was a name rumored online, and we can confirm that’s at least been pitched. However, nobody close to Austin or in WWE have been able to verify that it’s happening as of yet.”
The wrestling world was abuzz with excitement after it was announced that Rey Mysterio would be the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2023. The announcement came as a big surprise to fans, who had long been waiting for the masked wrestler to be honored for his contributions to the sport.
According to reports, Rey’s longtime friend and fellow wrestler, Konnan, will have the honor of inducting him into the Hall of Fame. This news was met with mixed reactions, with some fans questioning whether Konnan was the right person for the job.
However, there were some obstacles that almost prevented Konnan from inducting Rey into the Hall of Fame. WWE has been dealing with a lot of legal issues lately, including a lawsuit with Major League Wrestling (MLW). The lawsuit has caused some complications for WWE, as they had concerns about using Konnan for the induction ceremony if he was still under contract with MLW.
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed some light on the situation. He explained that WWE had given the green light for Konnan to induct Rey into the Hall of Fame, as long as he wasn’t under contract with MLW. This was a crucial factor, as WWE did not want to be seen as using someone who was currently involved in a lawsuit against them.
They said it would be okay, unless he’s under contract with MLW, so because of the lawsuit. They’re not gonna attempt to use him, because that would loook bad with the lawsuit. He’s not under contract with MLW that I know, so he’s doing it.
Despite the legal issues, the inclusion of Konnan in Rey’s Hall of Fame induction could add a lot of depth and history to his storyline with his son, Dominik Mysterio. Fans have long speculated that Dominik’s “Prison Dom” gimmick is an homage to Konnan, and his appearance at the induction ceremony could provide further confirmation of this theory.
All in all, the announcement of Rey Mysterio’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is an exciting development for the wrestling world. The inclusion of Konnan as his inductor adds an extra layer of intrigue to the ceremony, and fans are eagerly anticipating what promises to be a memorable WrestleMania weekend for the Mysterio family.
