CM Punk tweeted a couple of days ago on Twitter that he would have beaten Stone Cold Steve Austin quickly in a WrestleMania dream match, “Would’ve been short. GTS , 1 2 3.”
Steve Austin responded to a Bleacher Report headline quoting Punk, “Horseshit. @CMPunk Punk didn’t say that. Y’all made that shit up.”
CM Punk saw this tweet, and he tried to backtrack, replying with, “I’d never say that. Steve is right. Gimme an oh hell yeah.”
Stone Cold then added how his WrestleMania return match would have gone, “I see. @CMPunk You did say that. Damn. Complete delusion. I had us at a 60 minute time limit match at the Rosemont Horizon.
Right there in Chicago. Chi Town. The Windy City. Helluva match. Caught you with a Stunner at 59:56. You did not kick out. Bottom line.”
Sadly, Steve Austin has confirmed that he will likely never return to the ring, though he still does make WWE appearances, including for 3:16 Day last year, and for his ‘Broken Skull Sessions’ interview series on the WWE Network. Austin also recently discussed a Goldberg dream match.
CM Punk has strongly hinted at an in ring comeback recently with both WWE and AEW, and he is appearing on the wrestling drama ‘Heels’ with former Arrow star Stephen Amell.
