Stevie Ray on WWE Locking Down the “Harlem Heat” Name: “I am a bit torn about it”

Not too long ago, WWE filed for the copyrights of the name “Harlem Heat” and got it locked down. This led to many believing that Stevie Ray and Booker T were returning to the company but nothing came out of it.

Now, in an interview with Wrestling Epicenter, Stevie Ray talked about this subject and expressed his thoughts on it.

Stevie revealed that he was “torn” about WWE doing this but also noted that he and his brother never owned the name in the first place.

I’m kind of torn about that. We have contracts for our likeness and all that. But to own the name… You know, really and truly, we never owned the name.

We owned our names, Booker T and Stevie Ray. But, we never owned the Harlem Heat name. That was a name given to us by WCW.

The reason as to why the company filed for the trademark all of a sudden is unknown to us. However, it could be that the company made this move to secure it before someone else got it since Harlem Heat is a legendary tag team and a popular name.
