Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods made their return to Smackdown this week. Following their return, they received a shot at the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.
Xavier Woods had not competed in the ring since October of last year. Kofi Kingston was also out of action since Extreme Rules back in July. The two squared off against Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for the tag team titles.
It was a fast-paced match from start to finish, with multiple near falls. In the end, it was the New Day who won the match. Thus they became the new Smackdown Tag Team Champions.
However, Stephanie McMahon then announced that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods had been drafted to RAW, while Big E will stay in Smackdown. The New Day effectively split up with this decision.
