The reason that WWE Network put up footage of Mid South, Jim Crockett Promotions, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, Stampede Wrestling and the AWA this past week was because it was a test to see if it leads to an increase in subscriptions leading up to Christmas.
WWE had to pull the footage of Stampede Wrestling due to Bret Hart. For those who are unaware, Hart owns all footage that involves him, which would be all his matches and his interviews. There were some miscommunications between Hart and WWE over this.
Hart contacted Mark Carrano then contacted Vince McMahon, who said he would look into it first thing Monday morning, as well as WWE attorney Scott Amann, and said there would be an issue if they didn’t take the footage down.
This forced WWE to take down the footage.
