Former WWE Champion The Rock was rumored to make his return at the Royal Rumble and confront Roman Reigns. Although Cody Rhodes was the favorite to win The Royal Rumble match, there were rumors doing the rounds that Rock would still make an appearance at the show. The Great One was slated to make his return to the company soon to set up a match against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. There was a speculation that he might return Royal Rumble this year. While, he has been slated to be involved in WrestleMania 39, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 39 is not set in stone.
The Rock failed to make it to the Royal Rumble. It now seems like The Brahma Bull was busy during the Royal Rumble which is why he wasn’t present at the show.
