The Rock Replaced By Brock Lesnar At PPV

Several fans would simply agree that Brock Lesnar is one of the most dominant pro wrestlers to have ever stepped foot inside the squared circle. He had two terrific runs in WWE, both of which saw him winning major World Titles and being a huge draw for fans. Brock Lesnar was not seen on WWE television ever since he dropped the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36 back in 2020. Brock Lesnar was also previously called out by a Superstar from Monday Night RAW.

After being away from WWE television for over a year, Brock Lesnar made his return at WWE SummerSlam in 2021, immediately setting his sights set on Roman Reigns. He also sported a ponytail, which was completely different from what fans were used to seeing him in.

Lesnar won the WWE Championship after defeating Big E, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Bobby Lashley in a Fatal Five-Way match at WWE Day 1. However, he would lose the title to Bobby Lashley after Roman Reigns interfered in the match thanks to Paul Heyman turning on The Beast Incarnate. After a hiatus, Lesnar came back and attacked Roman Reigns again.

He challenged Roman Reigns for his titles at WWE SummerSlam. It featured The Beast Incarnate using a tractor to destroy the ring as well. He came back and started feuding with Bobby Lashley on Monday Night RAW. He ended up beating Lashley at Crown Jewel as well.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter , WWE changed from The Rock to Brock for WrestleMania 38.

“The idea was being talked about behind-the-scenes, but as best we can tell, while rumors certainly exist within the company, as far as those who would be in a position to know, there is no real answer. If Johnson wants to do it and can be sold on the idea, it would be the most perfect scenario for the company.

Originally, the belief was that if his schedule allowed for it, Johnson would do likely his last match at Mania with Reigns, who is a family member. This has been talked about for years, and Johnson wanted it in Los Angeles if he could do it.”

WWE previously talked about doing Rock vs. Reigns at WrestleMania 38 this year in Dallas, Texas, but Rock was more interested in doing the match in Los Angeles, so they went with Brock Lesnar against Reigns.
