TKO board member, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has strongly denounced a recent report regarding his actions in WWE, dismissing it as “complete nonsense.”

Since his comeback to WWE earlier this year, The Rock’s promos have notably included explicit language and adult references, a departure from the norm among WWE stars.

Dave Meltzer, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, previously indicated a shift away from what was perceived as Vince McMahon’s preferential treatment of certain stars, suggesting that this era was over. However, The Rock’s return seemed to maintain the status quo.

Meltzer originally remarked:

As one person noted, he does what he wants and because he’s on the Board of Directors, nobody is going to say anything to him.

He also has an entire team of representatives that he surrounds himself with, so any issues, they handle while he stays out of the mess with the people he directly deals with.

But one person noted that there was a feeling that the era of Vince McMahon’s double standards for his handpicked stars and for everyone else was over, and then Johnson shows up and it’s exactly the same.

Responding to Wrestlelamia’s summary of Meltzer’s report, The Rock refuted the claims outright:

his story is complete horses**t

Before Meltzer’s latest update, it had been widely understood that WWE talent were restricted from using explicit language due to the company’s PG rating. The reported backlash arose when The Rock defied these conventions.

The Rock is slated to return to the ring at WrestleMania 40, where he will team up with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
