The dream match between the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Rock has been on the cards for quite some time. There have been several speculations regarding the same and the potential match was slated to take place at WrestleMania 39.
The Rock could put over Roman Reigns?
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that WWE is planning to book The Rock in the match as the babyface to make it the biggest affair. WWE ‘Giving Up’ On Bray Wyatt?
He said:
“They are booking him for Rock to make it the biggest match they can, and then him winning and then him being a legendary babyface that they’ve been wanting him to be.”
Meltzer also noted how the match “gets tougher” with The Great One getting older with year every year passing by. However, the former WWE Champion had expressed his desire to face his cousin.
Meltzer said:
“Obviously The Rock & Roman Reigns is something that they’re building towards and it would be — every year gets tougher and tougher because Dwayne gets a year older and, you know, but I think he really wants to do a match against Roman Reigns.I think for sure it’ll be in next two WrestleManias, and if he can pull it off, the next WrestleMania.”
The Rock had announced his retirement from professional wrestling two years ago. But he is not ruling out the potential match and has immense interest in facing his cousin while Reigns also shares the same outlook.
WWE is planning to cement Reigns as the top star of the company and is he is reportedly set to lock horns with John Cena at SummerSlam pay-per-view. With Cena putting over Roman Reigns, The Tribal Chief could become the biggest name in the company.
