ThunderStruck: Hell in a Cell 2014 Preview

Big Show vs. Rusev

JT: Forgive me for being a downer, but does ANYONE really care about this match? I don’t. This isn’t how I would book someone that’s on the rise; it’s boring and repetitive. Give Rusev an opponent that can bring something special out of him. Alberto Del Rio would have been an excellent choice, so would CM Punk(I’m not going down this road for the entire preview, I swear). Rusev wins here.

Loser Must Be “Assistant” To Winner For 30 Days: Nikki Bell vs. Brie Bella

JT: This is another one that I don’t have much interest in. I blame WWE. Nikki wins because Brie winning would be a face getting the upper hand for a full month and that doesn’t often happen with WWE logic.

WWE Divas Title Match: AJ Lee (c) vs. Paige

JT: Another feud that flopped. It had potential, and now it’s less than interesting. Should be a good wrestling match, and I would expect AJ to keep the gold.

WWE Tag Team Title Match: Goldust & Stardust (c) vs. The Usos

JT: The Dust Brothers are good, and they’re slowly losing steam. A win here over the Usos would do them some good if they can be propelled into a rivalry with the Wyatts or another heel team(I expect the Dust Brothers to be faces again before the year is over). I don’t see the Usos getting a second run with the gold right now.

WWE Intercontinental Title Match (2 out of 3 Falls): Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Cesaro

JT: This will be the second best match of the night. It will kick ass, and we are all winners for being able to witness it. I predict WWE to give Cesaro the gold, but I’d be happy either way as THIS match could be a statement performance on what the IC Title means to these two competitors. Can’t wait to see this!

WWE United States Title Match: Sheamus (c) vs. The Miz

JT: We love Damien Sandow. He might be added or substituted into this match(I REALLY hope it happens). Sheamus can have a good wrestling match with either of these guys, and I’m sure we’ll enjoy it. Sheamus beats Miz as my official prediction. If Sandow gets inserted into the match in any capacity, then I would expect him to capture his first US Title(McMahon is off his rocker if he doesn’t see the value in Sandow).

Hell In a Cell Match: John Cena vs. Randy Orton

JT: Skip it. I could make cases for either man winning, but I don’t want to see this match and I will not watch it if it goes on last. I guess I’ll go with Orton just because we’ve seen Brock/Cena so many times and Orton will be a face soon based on what we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Hell In a Cell Match: Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

JT: Two former top indy guys tearing it up inside hell in a cell? HELL YES! These guys are going to give us a showing that we will never forget, and it will probably be a match of the year contender. I cannot say enough how excited I am for this one. WWE would be foolish not to put this match on last and send the fans home happy. Ambrose should win if they book it right, but Mr. Money in the Bank might be the one to come out on top to look strong as he holds onto the briefcase.

Three or four matches on the card could make this a decent show. Two matches shining big would keep the show in my memory, but it wouldn’t be an overall great show. Big E, Fandango and the Wyatts(former Wyatts included) along with Bo Dallas and Kofi Kingston are all not on the card. All of them can put on good matches and get the crowd hot. I hope everyone watching enjoys the show tonight, but my expectations are pretty low outside of the two potentially stellar matches.
