ThunderStruck: WWE NXT Review 11/06 and 11/13

NXT 11/06/14

Sami Zayn takes on Tyler Breeze in our opening match. Zayn wins a lengthy battle after an exploder suplex followed by the big kick.

^What a match! ***3/4. Not a five star classic, but definitely close to a four star statement contest. Zayn and Breeze have huge futures if utilized properly.

Renee Young interviews Adrian Neville. Neville says he was impressed with Sami Zayn getting the victory over Tyler Breeze. Neville says everyone knows by now that Sami Zayn can’t win the big one.

^Brief mic work from Neville, but definitely shows the confidence of a champion.

Dash Wilder is out next and he’s taking on Tyson Kidd. Kidd wins a short back and forth match using the sharpshooter.

^Basic matchup that put over Kidd. I genuinely wish they had a marketable gimmick for Kidd that didn’t involve him needing to talk. His in ring performances speak for themselves; I only wish we would see him use the dungeon lock again.

Renee Young interviews Sami Zayn about his win over Tyler Breeze. Zayn rambles on in a weak promo and talks about facing Neville for the title next week. Young says she’ll confirm that with William Regal.

^Weak promo. Renee Young saved it. Sami needs a different angle for his character’s personality. I’m not quite sure what it’s lacking.

Charlotte and Bailey take on Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. Banks pins Bailey on a rollup.

^That was a decent tag team match. Very compelling match with some ladies that I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of.

William Regal is interviewed backstage by Renee Young. Renee asks Regal about whether or not he will make the NXT Title match between Zayn and Neville. Regal confirms the match.

^Should be an awesome match!

Hideo Atami comes out to face the Ascension. He brings out Finn Balor to help take out the dark duo. Balor was Prince Devitt in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Atami and Balor stand tall to end the program!

^Hot debut for Balor. Both men have the skills to do big things in WWE, and seeing them as a tag team is going to be a real treat for pure wrestling fans.

NXT 11/13/14

Finn Balor kicks off the show. Balor says he came to NXT because he is the future. Tyson Kidd interrupts with Natalya at his side. Kidd has words for Balor. This brings out Justin Gabriel as he supports Tyson. They get in the ring to attack Balor and here comes Hideo Atami! Gabriel and Kidd go to leave as a ref comes down and tells the announcer something. Looks like it’s a tag team match right now!

^Short and simple way to start the show! Can’t wait to see these four wrestle!

Balor pins Gabriel after a double stomp from the top rope.

^***1/2. That was sensational tag team action from four of the best wrestlers on the planet. Loved it!

Alexa Bliss takes on Sasha Banks. Banks uses the Banks statement submission move for the win. Banks cuts a promo after the match about facing Charlotte for the NXT Women’s Championship.

^That was some quality female wrestling for such a short match. Banks isn’t a very good promo cutter.

Neville is interviewed backstage about facing Sami Zayn later tonight. Neville says the fundamental difference between the two is that Sami can’t win the big one.

Kalisto and Sin Cara take on Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy. Sin Cara gets the pinfall after the senton bomb.

^Fun match with the NXT Tag Team Champions featured. Murphy and Blake won’t have much of a future in WWE.

The Vaudevillains are interviewed. English reminds everyone that they are number one contenders. Gotch tells the dragons to keep the gold shined and the leather oiled because the titles will be going home with two men.

^Awesome promo from this weird duo! Love them!

It’s time for Sami Zayn to challenge Adrian Neville in our main event with the NXT Championship on the line! Neville wins the match with a small package rollup after Sami is distracted by the ref throwing up the X symbol for Neville’s injured knee.

^That was a messy and weird finish, but I know it’s being used to set up Zayn’s title challenge at Takeover in December.

Great show from beginning to end. THIS is NXT!

Thanks for reading.
