Tommaso Ciampa to undergo neck surgery

Tommaso Ciampa had been suffering from a neck injury for a few weeks before he was called up to the main roster.  This was aggravated due to him having to prove himself in the main roster matches, causing him to be out of action. He was also pulled out from events. It seems that merely resting won’t be enough this time.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Ciampa will need neck surgery. He will be out of action for a long time, depending on the kind of surgery he requires. This surgery was confirmed by WWE.

“This is actually huge. Ciampa is getting neck surgery in the next couple of days, WWE confirmed it.”

Ciampa is expected to relinquish his NXT Title during next week’s NXT tapings. Neck surgeries are quite serious and a superstar might be out of action from anywhere between six months to over a year. We will have to wait and see what happens to Ciampa.
