Tony Schivaone’s actual role in AEW

Tony Schivaone has signed a multi-year deal with AEW, but it seems that he will not be joining the commentary team, which was reported earlier.

Tony spoke to Wrestling Epicenter, Schivaone went into detail regarding his new role in AEW and what AEW has planned for him. The company will be filming segments in Atlanta, where Tony lives in.

“Okay, well, I do know I’m a producer. I’m going to be working on a lot of the videos you see in the shows. I’m going to be working behind the scenes when the live shows are going, the TNT shows. I’ve met with Tony Khan, I’ve met with, obviously, Cody. We do some production here in Atlanta… Cody and I actually live pretty close to each other so when I talked to Tony Khan, the idea was that I would do control centers and on-camera stuff, but I would not be on the broadcast team because his broadcast team was in place.”

On PW Insider Elite audio, Mike Johnson noted that Schivaone’s AEW role is similar to ”Mean” Gene Okerlund for his company. Tony is busy with other jobs as well, so him being a producer might be the best for him.
