Top Boxer Making a Return to MMA?, Santos Talks UFC Fight with Cro Cop

– Junior dos Santos recently spoke with Tatme.com about his upcoming fight with Mirko Cro Cop, here is what he had to say…

On Going For The Knoockout: “I train a lot of Boxing, I like the striking a lot and I’ll go after another knockout. What I want is the knockout. I’m training a lot of ground, a lot of Wrestling. This guy is dangerous standing, but I’m going after the knockout, as always. With the opportunity, I’ll show my ground too”

On This Being A Huge Oppotunity: “I’m facing it as a very good opportunity in my life. Cro Cop is a guy that, if you talk about MMA, you know who he is. He’s very dangerous and famous, if not the most dangerous man in the MMA. I’m very happy with the change of opponent, this is an incredible opportunity, as when happened the fight with Werdum.”

– American Top Team boxing coach Howard Davis Jr. will be promoting the debut of his newly formed Fight Time Promotions. For the main event of that show, he is looking to book 48 year old former heavyweight boxing champion Ray Mercer in the main event vs. 14-year veteran Marcus “Conan” Silveira (6-4). Mercer is coming off of a 9-second KO win over former UFC champion Tim Sylvia in June.

Davis made the following comments on the show: “I love mixed martial arts. It’s in my DNA now, in my genes. When I first came to American Top Team, I didn’t really understand it. But I see the fighters, and the excitement is there. I think it’s a wonderful time to start something on my own. So, we put Fight Time Promotions together. Our first show will be at the end of the year.”

Davis Jr. is considering a December 12th date at the War Memorial Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the show.
