– According to Variety, Steven Soderbergh has committed to direct Knockout, which will star female MMA star and former American Gladiator Gina Carano. The plan is to surround Carano with name actors in supporting roles. Carano will play a girl, from the wrong side of the tracks, who is given a second chance to use her skills for constructive purposes. The film is said to be in the style of La Femme Nikita and Kill Bill and will be an all out action film. The plan is to shoot in Ireland, Turkey and the U.S.

– It’s been confirmed that Anderson Silva will soon have surgery on his elbow. The surgery will keep him out for the remainder of 2009, with an early 2010 return being targeted. This obviously ends any chance of him headlining UFC 105 on November 14th.

Silva is currently undefeated in the UFC, having won all 10 of his fights. He last beat Forrest Griffin at UFC 101. When he returns, Silva will likely face Dan Henderson or Nate Marquardt.
