Triple H Removes Paul Heyman From SmackDown

Paul Heyman is one of the integral parts of behind the scene duties in WWE. He is also the ‘Special Counsel’ to the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. At SummerSlam this year, Roman Reigns successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match. During the hard-hitting bout, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ hit a devastating F5 on Reigns’ Special Counsel, Heyman, sidelining him from television for the next few weeks.

Real reason Paul Heyman is away

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Paul Heyman has been absent from WWE television for some time in order to sell the F-5 he got from Lesnar.

“The reason Heyman hasn’t been on TV is because the idea is to sell the injuries from Lesnar’s F-5 for a lengthy period of time to make the spot mean something. Likely he would return as a surprise at some point.”

The veteran journalist also stated that when Heyman finally makes a return to WWE TV, it’s going to be a surprise. If Meltzer’s report is accurate, WWE won’t be announcing Heyman’s eventual return, and he will likely appear out of the blue.

Vetran WWE star Rey Mysterio recently recalled his first meeting with Paul Heyman and his opinion of the former ECW promoter. The former WWE Champion and Heyman first met in 1995 when the masked star signed for the latter’s Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion. However, the wrestling veterans are now signed to WWE.

During a recent interview with FOX News, Mysterio detailed his initial interaction with The Tribal Chief’s Special Counsel and the latter’s kind gesture:

“Great guy, right away,” Mysterio said of Heyman. “I remember walking up to Paul and asking him, ‘Excuse me, Mr. Heyman, is it OK if we use a table? You know, we wanted to do this with the table’ and, he’s so funny, he’s like ‘great, you can use a table, you can use the car, you can use a chair, use whatever you want, go out there and have a great time.”
