At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Charlotte Flair lost her NXT Title to Io Shirai. The match was a triple-threat between Flair, Shirai, and Rhea Ripley.
In a post-TakeOver conference call, Triple H talked about the decision to have Flair lose her Championship on the pay-per-view. Triple H addressed the fact that Flair didn’t take the pinfall and made it clear that it nothing to do with her “last name”.
Triple H said that the finish for the match went the way it went due to a few very specific reasons. He said that the finish was done for specific story-telling purposes and that 3-4 months down the line, fans will be able to learn the reason why.
It will be interesting to see what’s next for Charlotte Flair on the Black and Yellow brand.
