Triple H says the WWE is keeping an eye on AEW; no update on Lars Sullivan

Triple H NXT

Triple H took part in a conference call today to help promote this week’s NXT TakeOver: Phoenix. The Game was asked multiple questions, ranging from Velveteen Dream’s recent tweet, allowing superstars to use social media the right way, and the reasoning behind the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony and TakeOver swapping days for WrestleMania week.

When he was asked about the whereabouts of Lars Sullivan, Triple H said that the plans for the Freak haven’t changed.

There’s a lot of speculation and stories about everybody at all times and it’s a funny thing, if there’s any kind of a glitch in a movement for a moment it leads to everything being speculated about. There’s a lot of talk but Lars is in a good place and nothing has really changed. We’re moving forward, and you’ll know when you see it, but nothing has changed.

Eventually, the topic of All Elite Wrestling came up, and the Executive VP of Talent, Live Events and Creative said that the WWE is definitely watching them.

It’s clearly something that we’ll keep an eye on, and clearly something that they’re out there doing their business, but we’ll do what is right for our business… we’ll continue to monitor everything and we say it all the time, but it’s not just a competitor like that – we compete against everything. When you’re a content provider, you compete against everything, including sleep and everything else.

NXT TakeOver: Phoenix starts at 7 p.m. this Saturday, January 26th.

HHH always kept an eye on TNA so AEW will be no different. I do hope AEW don’t make the same mistakes that TNA did. They need to find there own stars and push them more then the WWE stars.

  • They are the #1 wrestling company in the US already, WWE makes “sports entertainment”, never forget.

  • Soulshroude

    My point, exactly.

  • AEW 4 LIFE

AEW Will be a force to be reckoned with as the number two wrestling company. HHH is rite to be keeping an eye on them and Vince should be to. AJ styles and Finn balor along with Daniel Brian and many other WWE talent could all jump ship to AEW and make in the region of $2.5 million a year . Coin like that doesn’t go unnoticed.

It make sense to me I always figure Sullivan was debuting at the Royal Rumble.

  • They’re not competition though, AEW is professional wrestling, WWE is “sports entertainment” lmao

  • Soulshroude

I feel that Lars Sullivan has been in a “work” this entire time.

  • Soulshroude

Wait… why is HHH “keeping an eye on” AEW? Does he actually feel that they could be competition? About time this happened.

Only thing I actually read was “if there is any glitch in the matrix…”

That would make no sense seeing as they were advertising his call up weeks before the other five, and they have now all debuted in some form or another and he is still MIA.
They have even pretty much stopped mentioning him on the shows as well, which says things have defo not gone to plan.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I have always thought Las Sullivan was not debuting on the main roster until the Royal Rumble.
