It was rumored that CM Punk signed with AEW. Currently, there is no concrete evidence of this, but all signs are pointing to the rumor being true. If the rumor is true, it would also reign true that WWE, Vince McMahon, and Triple H are at a loss here as losing not just Daniel Bryan, but CM Punk as well as Bray Wyatt is huge. Via ‘The Nitty Gritty Dirt Show’ on RussosBrand.com, it was mentioned that Triple H stated in an interview earlier this year that he spoke to CM Punk in the last 2 years. Billi Bhatti reported on the show that FOX told WWE to negotiate with Punk to bring him back after he started his backstage gig.
Triple H and WWE were able to contact and connect with CM Punk as far as Punk asking WWE what their creative direction was for him, and at first WWE didn’t have any, but later told him it was to face Triple H. Punk, of course, wasn’t interested at all by this.
The Triple H creative idea appalled CM Punk so much that he has likely closed the WWE chapter for good after such a blow to his ego. AEW is looking more possible by the day.
