Former President Donald Trump recently came out in support of legalizing recreational use of marijuana in Florida on Truth Social via Mediaite.
The GOP nominee recently took to his social media platform to inform his followers that something legal in other states should no longer be criminalized in Florida. Trump stated that he supports Amendment 3 of Florida’s recreational marijuana law.
Trump stated that the amendment would go into effect “whether people like it or not” because it will have enough votes, and he therefore wants it “done correctly.”
His vote preferences on Florida ballot initiatives are quite open. He is back-and-forth on whether he will or won’t support an abortion measure in the state has been a major point of contention on both the right and the left, as it is a forerunner to how he may view any abortion ban effort from the right if elected.
“As everyone knows, I was, and will be again, the most respected LAW & ORDER President in U.S. History. We will take our streets back by being tough & smart on violent, & all other types, of Crime,” Trump wrote to his followers on Truth Social.
He continued, “In Florida, like so many other States that have already given their approval, personal amounts of marijuana will be legalized for adults with Amendment 3. Whether people like it or not, this will happen through the approval of the Voters, so it should be done correctly.”
Trump called on the state legislature to prohibit the use of marijuana in public spaces but noted “we do not need to ruin lives” by “arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them.”
We need the State Legislature to responsibly create laws that prohibit the use of it in public spaces, so we do not smell marijuana everywhere we go, like we do in many of the Democrat run Cities,” Trump wrote.
He concluded, “At the same time, someone should not be a criminal in Florida, when this is legal in so many other States. We do not need to ruin lives & waste Taxpayer Dollars arresting adults with personal amounts of it on them, and no one should grieve a loved one because they died from fentanyl laced marijuana. We will make America SAFE again!”
