Trump Explodes At Rumors He Fell Asleep At…

Former President Donald Trump responded on Thursday to media reports suggesting he has been dozing off during his New York hush money trial. Reporters from various outlets have claimed to see Trump asleep in court, but due to the prohibition on cameras, there’s no public footage to confirm these accounts.

New York Times political reporter Maggie Haberman mentioned on CNN that “sometimes, he is sleeping.” She noted that while it’s true Trump has been seen with his eyes closed for extended periods, it’s not always clear whether he’s actually sleeping. According to Haberman, Trump may close his eyes to remain calm, but this sometimes leads to falling asleep.

“However, sometimes he is closing his eyes,” Haberman noted, adding, “And I’ve talked to people around him about this too, because that is how he tries to just basically stay calm and deal with it. And whether that then leads to sleep or whatever, who knows? But he is sitting there with his eyes closed for long periods of time. It’s not always sleeping.”

In response to these claims, Trump took to his platform Truth Social to clarify his side. “Contrary to the FAKE NEWS MEDIA, I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today. I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!”

The reports of Trump potentially sleeping during his trial carry a certain irony, given that he often referred to President Joe Biden as “sleepy” during his presidency. This has not gone unnoticed among political commentators, highlighting the peculiar twist in Trump’s characteristic rhetoric.
