Alina Habba, an attorney and spokeswoman for former President Donald Trump, dismissed the idea of him being subpoenaed by Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Howell, as “ridiculous.” Habba responded to Howell’s accusations that Trump made public statements calling for an investigation or possible prosecution of Hunter Biden. Habba laughed off the suggestion of a subpoena, stating that it’s an attempt to intimidate and retaliate against Trump for criticizing Hunter Biden.
During an interview with Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo, Habba expressed skepticism about the basis for the potential subpoena, questioning what specific allegations or evidence would warrant such a legal action. She highlighted the lack of clarity in the prosecutor’s argument and accused them of relying on hearsay media reports rather than concrete evidence.
Additionally, Habba criticized New York Attorney General Letitia James, who brought a $250 million civil fraud case against Trump. Habba claimed that James campaigned on a platform to “get” Trump while he was still in office and criticized her priorities as attorney general, stating that she was more focused on herself and politics than on addressing the issues facing the city.
“Is President Trump expecting a subpoena from Hunter Biden?” Bartiromo asked.
That led Habba to chuckle before she responded.
“If they’re going to put my client on the stand—and I have heard this—to discuss Hunter Biden, go ahead,” Habba said. “Obviously, it’s ridiculous. They’re trying to intimidate and trying to say, ‘If you’re going to attack our kid, we’re going to put you on the stand.’ For what? Saying things that we’ve seen pictures of? Checks that have come from [China]? Drugs? Videos? Hookers?
“I mean, I’m not really sure what their angle is there,” Habba continued.” [See video below]
Habba asserted that James was not bright and criticized the case against Trump, stating that she had seen the lawyers and the case, and they did not know what they were talking about. She characterized the trial as a circus and described the proceedings as ridiculous and completely insane.
Regarding the possibility of Trump going to jail for breaking gag orders, Habba assured that he is protected by the Secret Service and emphasized that Trump had done nothing wrong. She stated that any attempt to bring criminal charges against him would not succeed because there are no criminal acts or civil wrongs on his part. Habba maintained that the Secret Service would always protect Trump, and the legal actions against him were politically motivated.
