According to Mediaite, in a vehement response to U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan’s recent ruling, which resulted in a partial gag order against him, former President Donald Trump expressed his disapproval, strongly denouncing the decision. Jason Miller, a prominent figure in the Trump campaign, took to X, the rebranded social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to declare the ruling as an “absolute abomination.”
Miller further criticized what he perceived as partisan interference in the democratic process, accusing President Joe Biden of seeking to silence his political opponent, who he characterized as the front-runner for the 2024 presidency and the most popular political leader in America. In the wake of the ruling, Trump affirmed his commitment to upholding the Constitution, protecting the rights of his supporters, and ensuring the preservation of the country’s freedom from what he characterized as the shackles of biased law enforcement.
“Another partisan knife stuck in the heart of our Democracy by Crooked Joe Biden, who was granted the right to muzzle his political opponent, the leading candidate for the Presidency in 2024, and the most popular political leader in America,” Miller continued. “President Trump will continue to fight for our Constitution, the American people’s right to support him, and to keep our country free of the chains of weaponized and targeted law enforcement.”
Following Miller’s statement, Trump himself utilized his newly established social media platform, Truth Social, to condemn the gag order and pledge to appeal the decision. The order specifically prohibits Trump from launching verbal attacks against Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutors, court personnel, and potential witnesses in light of the pending trial, which centers on allegations of his involvement in an illegal plot to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Judge Chutkan implemented the ruling following concerns raised by Smith’s legal team during a recent hearing, citing the potential impact of Trump’s inflammatory public statements on the case’s fairness and impartiality.
This recent gag order is not the first instance of Trump being subjected to such restrictions, as he had previously faced similar constraints in relation to his civil business fraud case in Manhattan. The ongoing legal battles and constraints have underscored the highly contentious and charged atmosphere surrounding Trump’s legal affairs and public statements.
