It has been noted that videos of former President Donald Trump interacting with his wife Melania have gone viral after Trump Jr. mocked Tim Walz’ relationship with his wife via Newsweek.
Trump Jr. has made the comments on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday. After posting a video that showed Walz greeting his wife on stage by reaching for her right hand before leaning into an embrace, he wrote, “Totally normal to greet your wife with a firm handshake and a bro hug/back slap. Tim Walz isn’t weird at all, guys.”
The post has followed the widespread use of the term “weird” by Democrats about Republicans, in particular Trump and vice-presidential candidate JD Vance, which is believed to have been spearheaded by Walz.
In trying to turn the “weird” spotlight onto the Democrats, Trump Jr. brought a a string of speculation to his father’s relationship with his wife, with videos specifically examining their physical interactions.
Journalist Ron Filipkowski posted a video that features a compilation of occasions where Melania appears to avoid holding her husband’s hand. It has been viewed almost 2 million times.
Another video, posted by the account Republicans Against Trump depicted Trump shaking his wife’s hand, the same act that Trump Jr. mocked Walz for. It has received over 540,000 views.
Trump’s relationship with Melania has come under fire before, notably due to his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels in 2006.
He has repeatedly denied the alleged affair with Daniels.
Playboy model and actress Karen McDougal also alleged that she had an affair with Trump in 2006. When rumors of Trump’s alleged affair with Daniels first came to light in 2018, Melania told ABC News that the issue is, “not a concern or focus of mine. I’m a mother and a first lady, and I have much more important things to think about and to do.”
Melania, a Slovenian American former fashion model, met Trump in 1998 following an introduction from businessman Paolo Zampolli.
